Marmalade + Kindness supports World Values Day 2020

Oct 13, 2020 |

Marmalade + Kindness hosted three events on 15 October 2020 in conjunction with the UK Values Alliance for World Values Day 2020.

World Values Day is an annual campaign to increase the global awareness and practice of our most deeply held values. For this year’s campaign we hosted three online events about how to introduce values to children during a pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has shifted everyone’s needs and made us consider what we really ‘value.’ Now, more than ever, as we assess what is fundamentally important to us, we have an opportunity to explain values to our children and how ‘values literacy’ supports their well-being.

1. Interview with Melanie Weeks, Coach

Watch Marmalade + Kindness, Founder, Adamantia Velonis interview Melanie Weeks, MSc (Coaching Psychology), Connect The Dots Coaching. They discuss how to discover your child’s values and practical ways to incorporate values into daily life to build resilience.

2. Interview with Susan Verde, NY Times Best-selling Author

Watch Adamantia Velonis, Founder, Marmalade + Kindness interview Susan Verde, NY Times Best Selling Author, Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher, on the power of storytelling to teach children values. The discuss Susan’s latest book, I Am One: A Book of Action and Susan guides the audience through a brief loving-kindness meditation.

3. Let’s get baking with Ati Farmani, Nutritionist

To finish the day, Adamantia Velonis, Founder, Marmalade + Kindness shows parents how cooking can be used to explore values and mindfulness with children. She makes fanouropita, a traditional Greek vegan cake. In the kitchen, she is joined by Ati Farmani, food scientist, food coach, nutritionist and Founder, Ati Nutrition. Ati explains the history of the ingredients, their benefits and how to adjust traditional recipes for various dietary needs.

World Values Day provides an opportunity to contemplate our most deeply held beliefs, as we explore and act on them. Which values do you hold close to your heart? How do they shape you as a person?

‘What you do today can improve all your tomorrows.’
